The series is anchored by five iconic venues across Los Angeles that are committed to offering a sanctuary in celebration of queer culture and community.
Organized by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and supported by the Andrew J. Kuehn Jr. Foundation and the Robert Gore Rifkind Foundation, this initiative is curated with meticulous care and a deep reverence for the art of cinema by an independent queer programming team: Martine McDonald, Moi Santos, Natalie Jasmine Harris and Daniel Crooke.
The Queer Rhapsody journey begins with several short film programs that entice with both intimacy and universality. These programs include Queering Memory: Gathering Light Past, Present and Future, Sacred Sites: Queer Sanctuaries, Laughing Through Fire: Comedy as a Compass, Determined Defiance, Generations in Bloom: Growth and Connection Across the Ages and Transcendent Movements: Queer Artists in Motion. Each film featured contributes to an overarching imprint of artful direction, dynamic cinematography and collective voices of celebration.
