Delve into a mesmerizing collection of short films that celebrate the rich and multifaceted experiences of Black queer individuals, each piece offering a unique perspective on love, identity and community. How to Raise a Black Boy is an experimental fairytale dedicated to the modern Black boy, where four boys disappear one night and embark on a fantastical journey to break the curses of Black boyhood. In MnM, the exuberant portrait of chosen sisters Mermaid and Milan captures the joy, siblinghood and unapologetic personas of two emerging runway divas in the drag ballroom community. This film highlights the beauty and power of being nonbinary in a world that prizes gender “realness,” showcasing the strength of chosen family and the celebration of individuality.

(dey/dem): a choreo-doc is a compelling 16-minute sample of a feature-length experimental documentary in progress. It illuminates Black non-binary folks in the American South and their connection to the nearly erased history of gender expansiveness within the African diaspora. Winter Insect, Summer Flower follows a woman's journey through the changing seasons, portraying the transformative power of love and self-discovery. In Sis, a surrealist black comedy, a woman's curiosity about her ex-crush's new girlfriend leads to a cosmic-meet cute at a Brooklyn rooftop party, complicating her emotions and desires. Lastly, Merman presents the life of a 59-year-old Black, queer man who speaks about his multifaceted existence as an emergency nurse, leather enthusiast, husband and civil rights advocate. Together, these films weave a rhapsody of Black queer love, exploring themes of self-acceptance, resilience and the beauty of authentic connections.
