A cat with glasses brings magic and chaos to a small town, in this newly restored film that is part of the Czech New Wave. A mysterious feline arrives with a traveling circus and it has a special power: it can reveal people's hidden secrets by casting a color onto them that others can see. When the entire town is exposed at a circus performance, the community’s dishonesty is revealed and a riot ensues. Whimsical, satirical and filled with fantasy and magical realism, The Cassandra Cat is part fairy tale, part political satire that took home the Jury Prize at the 1963 Cannes Film Festival.
