Nasrin (2020)
Since becoming a lawyer in 2003, Nasrin Sotoudeh has been a tireless advocate for the rights of women, children, LGBTQ prisoners, religious minorities, journalists, artists and those facing the death penalty in Iran. Her work to advance women’s and human rights has earned her acclaim internationally and fierce, government opposition at home. Secretly filmed in Iran by women and men who risked arrest to make it and narrated by Academy Award winner Olivia Colman, Nasrin gives us an intimate, inspiring portrait of Sotoudeh, her passion and her resilience, in the period leading up to her arrest in 2018 and its still unfolding aftermath.
