Directed by Robert Altman
Lonelyhearts Alex (Paul Dooley) and Sheila (Marts Heflin) meet through a dating agency. Though early signs suggest they are not so well-matched (he's from a formal and staunchly patriarchal Greek family, she's a singer in a bohemian rock band), still, their weariness of dating life and of being alone leads them to forgive and adapt, over and over again. Largely neglected after a limited release, the film is one of director Robert Altman's most delightful and personal comedies; also his sincerest statement on love.
