Directed by Robert Klane
A sort of “Love Boat” on dry land, the discotheque in “TGIF” beckons all to come inside and be changed, whether through fame, love, or expanded consciousness. Probably the frankest disco film regarding sexual and chemical excesses associated with the scene, the pre-AIDS fantasy doesn’t dwell on consequences, opting instead for joyful abandon as Donna Summer belts out her hit, “Last Dance.”
