This screening is part of a special tribute to documentarian Jorge Prelorán, a cinematic icon in his native Argentina and a faculty member of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television who passed away in 2009.
Directed by Fermín Alvarez Rivera
Fermín Alvarez Rivera‘s moving documentary etches a finely-detailed portrait of fellow documentarian Jorge Prelorán, a cinematic icon in his native Argentina who inflected his ethnographic practice with a unique aesthetic and ethical stamp. An alumnus and faculty member of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, Prelorán (who passed away in 2009), always presented his subjects in a non-exoticized, dignified manner. Tonight’s screening will be followed by a panel of Prelorán’s students and close friends discussing and celebrating his life and career.
Presented in Spanish dialogue with English subtitles. Digital Video, Ansco Color, 79 min.
