"Teamsters boycott of United Farm Workers lettuce"

In September of 1970, United Farm Workers asked consumers to boycott all head lettuce that had not been picked by members of the UFW. This was an attempt to put pressure on the major lettuce growers to recognize the UFW as the bargaining unit for farm workers. Here, a reporter covers the Teamsters boycott of United Farm Workers lettuce enacted as a response to the UFW boycott hurting sales of Teamsters lettuce. Under orders from Teamsters Local 630, workers ranging from produce drivers to market clerks refuse to handle any lettuce with the UFW logo. Silent footage includes shots of delivery trucks, boxes of lettuce and other produce, and workers moving boxes. Also included is the reporter's voiceover narration contextualizing the boycott and the silent footage seen after the voiceover concludes. The voiceover segment is sound only.
