Reporter Mike Botula covers a protest against Proposition 13 at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital where staff, volunteers and patients are demonstrating to show which vital services will be cut if Proposition 13 is implemented. According to a doctor, the current plan calls for this particular hospital to be closed, and if that happens, thousands of disabled children will go without care. Footage includes shots of disabled people protesting in front of the hospital, doctors and patients, and nurses or therapists working with patients. Other footage features Howard Jarvis defending Proposition 13 and talking about Proposition 8. Some segments containing the reporter's voiceover are audio only.
Note: The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
