"Press conference on the LAPD and the black community"

An unidentified African American man speaks at a press conference about the relationship between the LAPD and the black community in Los Angeles. Based on the original leader title, he may be affiliated with the NAACP, but this is not evident from viewing the footage. He briefs the press on two meetings that took place that morning, the first with District Attorney John Van de Kamp, and the second with Chief Daryl Gates of the Los Angeles Police Department. Topics discussed include the attitudes and positions of the review board, use of alternative weapons, and where they are in the Eula Love case. (Eula Love had been killed by police in January of 1979. The high profile case generated controversy regarding whether or not the actions of the officers were justified.) He also states that he feels they have not gotten much help from either the DA's office or the LAPD in terms of the community's willingness to help address the confrontational relationship that seems to exist between the police department and the black community. Footage includes shots of cameramen and reporters.
