"Press conference against the military draft"

In an outdoor press conference, two men speak out against the military draft. The first man, who is affiliated with the American Civil Liberties Union, expresses the group's opinion that there is no overwhelming national need for a military draft at this time, and people who say there is a need for an extension of the draft have not proven their case. He also states the ACLU has not taken a position on registration for the draft. The second man talks about legislation that would call upon President Nixon to rescind his order to extend the draft for two more years. This man calls not just an end to the draft, but for an end to registration as well. He also mentions the Nixon-appointed Gates Commission being unanimous in its call for ending the draft this coming summer, as well as the massive opposition being mounted by young people and the public in general.
