"Negro History Week celebration"

Stan Chambers reports from outside Los Angeles City Hall where ceremonies marking the 23rd annual celebration of Negro History Week, which would later become Black History Month, are underway. Mayor Sam Yorty delivers a speech in which he discusses how interest in Black history has grown since the early years of the program, and talks about how people of African ancestry were prominent among the founders of the city. Footage includes shots of attendees, including Los Angeles City Councilman Robert W. Lindsay.
