NAACP president Kivie Kaplan, NAACP attorney Morgan Moten, and an unidentified NAACP representative give a press conference on equal rights in California. The NAACP is asking the federal courts to direct agencies to develop long range programs to eliminate discrimination in areas such as housing, education and employment. Kaplan further discusses the legal and moral obligations of the white power structure responsible for discrimination against Black Americans to actually implement existing laws designed to protect and promote equal rights. Lastly, Kaplan gives examples of gross inequities in busing infrastructure for Black children in Florida as compared to those allocated to white children.
