Title:

"Mexican history mural at Thomas Jefferson School in Compton"

Date:
c. October 8, 1972

Synopsis

Dr. Goodman explains the following to a reporter. The Compton Unified School District felt that since Thomas Jefferson School was in a barrio, there was a need to represent the background of the Mexican people there, and here in general in this country. After 1 1/2 years of research by students and their art teacher Mr. de Leon, in conjunction with several organizations, a mural of Mexican history was made.

Note:  The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
