Stan Chambers reports on the crisis facing disabled people in Los Angeles County who receive in-home care and help with daily activities with grants supplied through the Homemaker Chore Program. Los Angeles County does not have the funds to meet the program's budget for the month of June. If the necessary funds are not received, they will be required take action ranging from cutting the amount individuals receive to sending out termination notices to all people receiving aid from that program. Tonette Tribble, who is now a quadriplegic after contracting polio, relies on the program to hire her caretaker, Laura Cordova, who assists with all her daily needs. Chambers interviews Tribble about what the program means to her and her quality of life. In a press conference, attorneys for the group Rights for the Disabled announce a suit on Tribble's behalf against Governor Brown and three other state officials because current law requires the state spend money for this program. Footage includes Cordova assisting Tribble, including preparing to get Tribble into an iron lung. Segment with the reporter's voiceover is audio only and has no accompanying picture.
