Seven community papers serve East Los Angeles, including the Eastside Sun. The family-owned papers, which focus exclusively on news and events in the local community, were in danger of folding, but new owners stepped in to ensure the community would keep its local papers. Stan Chambers interviews a woman, possibly the owner or an employee, who talks about the focus of the paper, having the first bilingual front page and running bilingual ads. Footage includes exterior shots of the building, employees at work, and shots of the finished paper. Also includes voiceover segments with no picture.
Note: The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
