"Chicano Caucus and obtaining funds for Chicano communities"

In an outdoor press conference at the Los Angeles Press Club, Mr. Baldonado talks to the press about the Chicano people's concerns in getting badly needed funds to their communities. He mentions the inequity of the distribution of funds available through EYOA, the Economic and Youth Opportunities Agency, and how through that program communities are forced to compete against each other for the same funds. The Chicano community constantly sees their funds cut, and proposals for funding are submitted and denied, while proposals are approved in other areas of Los Angeles. The Chicano Caucus, which involves 14 different agencies in the East Los Angeles area, was formed about a year and a half before this press conference to address these issues. Mr. Baldonado introduces Mr. Edward Olivas, a Native American, who indicates the Indian community has had similar problems to what the Chicano community currently faces.
