Title:

"Black high school students hold conference to address gang violence"

Date:
October 17, 1972

Synopsis

Black high school students representing all the black high schools in Los Angeles have come together to address gang violence and other activities in their schools. They believe since no one else is really dealing with the problem, it is time for the community to come together to stop it. They hope to target both gang members and the general school population to try to prevent them from becoming involved in gangs. Footage includes students seated at tables on the stage, students in the audience and a reporter interviewing two of the students involved in organizing the conference.

Note: The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
