Two significant public affairs programs developed to address the gap in African-American participation in television broadcasting during the 1960s and 70s were Black Journal, (currently broadcasting as Tony Brown's Journal), and America's Black Forum. UCLA Film & Television Archive's News and Public Affairs Collection (NAPA) holds over 500 titles for each program from the following years: Tony Brown's Journal (1981 - 2003), America's Black Forum (1989 - 2003), covering such topics as allegations of discrimination in the U.S. military, President Clinton's relationship with the Congressional Black Caucus, playwright August Wilson and Malcolm X.
