The documentary Industry's Disinherited (1949, Union Films) from UCLA Film & Television Archive screened April 2, 2014 at "Orphans 9" in Amsterdam.
A time capsule perspective on the still-pressing issue of workers' pensions and benefits for the elderly, Industry's Disinherited was presented at Orphans 9 by Yale University's Charles Musser.
Orphan films are works without an identified rights-holder or caretaker—or more generally, are works ouside of the commercial mainstream. Orphan Film Symposiums seek to encourage the preservation, study and exhibition of these often neglected moving images.
